Masalaa Bar by Chef Milind Sovani

East siders, rejoice! Chef Milind Sovani has launched Masalaa Bar at 723 East Coast Road (ex Gayatri Restaurant).

I was 18 when I first met Chef Milind when he was at The Song of India. I used to work at a spa beside The Song of India and that's when I first tried his food.

Fast forward 10 years, we meet again at Rang Mahal and Naumi Hotel where I was invited to try his new menus and have learnt so much about Indian cuisine in Singapore through him.

Here's what I enjoyed at Masalaa Bar:

Vada Pao Sliders $8++

Don't be fooled by these Vada Pao Sliders as they pack a punch!

Coastal Surmai Fry $8++

This is my first time trying this dish and it was fantastic. The fish was so crispy, and goes perfectly with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc or Singleton which i'll get to very shortly.

Khau Galli Kheema Pau $21++

If you like Kheema, this is a must-order. I was so tempted to takeaway for my dad as the lamb just melts in your mouth. I loved spreading it onto the toasted pau as it's what I call "Soul Food".

Banarsi Samosa Chat $8++

I was really stuffed by the time the Samosa Chat arrived but I had to take a bite and loved the explosion of flavours.

Now let's talk about the booze at Masalaa Bar.

A glass of Old Monk Rum $5++

A glass of house wine $8++

A glass of Monkey 47 gin $8++

5 Heineken Beers for $18++

A bottle of Singleton $88++

Great food and affordable drinks - what more can you ask for?

Do make your reservations as Masalaa Bar was full on a Tuesday night (just day 2 of opening)! I know i'm coming back for more!

Masalaa Bar is located at 723 East Coast Road 459071.
